Diversity matters in all its forms.

At The Burkard School we know that neurodiversity allows for the kind of out-of-the-box thinking that can propel society forward. As Gary Pisano, the Harry E. Figgie Jr. Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, notes, “[w]e do better when we mix people who think differently or are wired a bit differently.” (1)

It is The Burkard School’s mission to support students whose neurodiversity makes it difficult to thrive in a typical classroom setting. Our students’ neurodiversity is what makes them special and amazing. However, without proper nurturing throughout their formative years, the challenges that often come with neurodivergence can overshadow the gifts, leaving our students floundering in school and in life.

We believe that ALL children should learn in the environment that’s right for them. If it’s true that “innovation comes from the edges,”(2) then by supporting our students you support not just your community but also the future of innovation.

The Burkard School is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All donations go directly to providing our students an optimal learning environment.
